CCSA ANNOUNCES MEN’S 2019-2020 POSTSEASON AWARDS

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (TheCCSA.com) – Gardner-Webb sophomore Brady Fields (Marietta, Ga.) has been named the 2019-20 CCSA Men's Swimmer of the Year, while Florida Atlantic junior Logan Downey (Plantation, Fla.) is the CCSA Men's Diver of the Year. In addition, Florida Atlantic junior Clay Riemenschneider (Fort Myers, Fla.) is this year's Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the CCSA announced Friday.

Fields was the Runnin' Bulldogs top performer at the 2020 CCSA Championship with four first-place finishes and six All-Conference times. He claimed first in the 50-free with a time of 20.02 and then won the 100 backstroke at 48.23. Fields was also a part of the first-place 200-medley relay team that finished in 1:20.11. He also claimed helped Gardner-Webb grabbed second in the 400 medley (3:14.09) and 400 free relays (2:59.36).

Downey was the 1-meter dive champion (381.55) at this year's CCSA Championship and runner-up on the 3-meter (372.65). He also was a four-time CCSA Diver of the Week this season racking up eight individual wins and 15 top-five finishes during the season. 

Riemendchneider achieved a 3.934 GPA in the fall when the season was in full swing and was named to the C-USA Honor Roll, as well as named the Conference USA Academic Medal. Hodges is a biological sciences major (pre-dental), holds a cumulative 3.952 GPA and he has been a four-time Dean's List recipient In addition, Riemendchneider claimed 12 top five finishes this season, including  a third place in the 500 free (4:31.17) and 1650 Free (15:41.49) at the 2020 CCSA Championship.

Also nominated for Swimmer of the Year: Rateb Hussein (Florida Atlantic) and Filip Svedberg (Old Dominion)

Also nominated for Scholar-Athlete of the Year: Tim Bennett (Gardner-Webb), Jalen Watson (Howard), and Filip Svedberg (Old Dominion)
