LakePoint, Ga. – The 2017 Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Beach Volleyball Championship is set to begin on Friday April 21 and returns to the Lakepoint Sporting Community in Emerson, Ga. Florida State will be the top seed following a 21-7 regular season record, the league announced on Saturday night.

The Seminoles are the defending CCSA Champions and have once again had an outstanding regular season. They were undefeated against CCSA opponents in 2017 and were ranked among the top-four in the AVCA beach volleyball polls all season long. They picked up a signature win on the final weekend, when the Seminoles defeated No. 2-ranked Pepperdine for the first time in program history. Florida State was once again prominently featured among the league's Pair of the Week honors, winning three of the weekly awards.

LSU earns the No. 2 seed and will be leading the second pool after winning 20 consecutive dual matches heading into next weekend's Championship. The Lady Tigers have not lost a match since March the 12th and have continued to climb up the national rankings and sit as high as seventh in the AVCA poll. They have defeated several CCSA schools this season, including Georgia State and South Carolina.

The Panthers and Gamecocks will occupy the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds respectively at this year's CCSA Championship. Georgia State has had another winning season and won six games against CCSA opponents this season. South Carolina has won 21 games in 2017, giving them back-to-back seasons of 20 or more wins for the first time in program history. They feature three pairs that have won 14 or more matches in dual play this season. South Carolina also posted 10 victories against fellow CCSA conference members.

Florida State and South Carolina will be joined in Pool A by No. 5-seeded FIU, No. 8 Tulane and No. 9 UNCW. LSU and Georgia State will take on No. 6 FAU, No. 7 College of Charleston and No. 10 UAB in the upcoming Championship pool play. UNCW and College of Charleston will make their CCSA Championship debuts after joining the conference this past offseason. The ten teams will be divided into two five-team pools to begin the Championship. The top-two teams in each pool will advance to the semifinals. The Championship Match on April 23 will be broadcast live on ESPN3 at 1:00pm EST.
