Gardner-Webb Win Four Matchups In Bellarmine Invitational

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Gardner-Webb took home four victories in the Bellarmine Invitational over the weekend behind 13 first-place finishes.
 
The men defeated Southern Indiana 259 – 55. They also took down Bellarmine 166-149.
 
The first-place finishes for the Gardner-Webb men include the following:
  • 200 Yard Medley Relay (1:32.50)
  • 200 Yard Breaststroke (2:08.50) Austin Wheeler
  • 50 Yard Freestyle (21.17) Brady Fields
  • 200 Yard Freestyle (1:43.63) Logan Cornelison
  • 400 Yard Free Relay (3:08.34)
  • 400 Yard Medley Relay (3:25.91)
  • 200 Yard Backstroke (1:53.76) Landon Clark
  • 100 Yard Freestyle (46.78) Logan Cornelison
  • 200 Yard Freestyle Relay (1:24.77)
 
The Runnin' Bulldogs took three of the top four spots in three of those events. Other notable finishes include the 100 Yard Butterfly, where they placed second and third, and the 100 Yard Breaststroke, where they placed second, third, fourth, and fifth.
 
The women defeated Southern Indiana 254-59, and Bellarmine 195-114.
 
Their first-place finishes were as follows:
  • 400 Yard Freestyle Relay (3:34.97)
  • 500 Yard Freestyle (5:13.08) Hailey Williams
  • 400 Yard IM (4:37.71) Sarah-Michael Jann
  • 200 Yard Freestyle Relay (1:38.50)
 
They took first, second, and fourth in the 500 Yard Freestyle, and touched first and third in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay. Another notable finish was the second, third, and fifth place finishes for the women in the 200 Yard Freestyle.
 
The Gardner-Webb swim team is next in action Saturday, November 5, when it will take on Davidson and UNC Asheville. The meet is set to begin at 12 p.m. from Davidson University.
