DAY THREE RESULTS

CHARLOTTE, N.C. –  The UNC Asheville swimming & diving team finished up competing at the Fall Frenzy Invitational on Sunday. Asheville finished third at the Invitational with a point total of 1,369.5 over the course of the three days.

"We've learned a lot, faced adversity and finished strong," said UNC Asheville Head Coach Elizabeth Lykins. "We executed planned race strategies, competed as a team and supported each other better today than anything previous. It's been an exciting meet and will help us prepare for conference championships even better."

Morning Session – Asheville kicked off its final day in Charlotte with several stellar swims during the morning session. 18 Bulldogs advanced to the final session later on Sunday, 22 had season-best performances, two lifetime-best swims along with one school record as well.

The first event of the morning was the 200-yard backstroke. Five Bulldogs swam in the event and each of them logged season-best times. Leading the charge was Nora Segurola Larrinaga who posted the third-fastest time in the prelims (1:59.46).

Asheville did more of the same in the prelims of the 100-yard fly. Nine Bulldogs took part in the event and each of them set a new season-best time. A trio of Bulldogs in Delaney Carlton (3rd- 50.40), Abby Parks (4th – 50.54), and Anna Marcotti (7th – 51.44) all were among the top 10 prelim times. Additionally, Marcotti and her time of 51.44 was a new lifetime best time for her in that event.

In the 200-yard breaststroke, the Bulldogs had four more swimmers log season-best performances. Mikaela Fullerton (7th – 2:19.9) and Beatrice Coconcelli (8th – 2:22.10) both swam fast enough to qualify for the 'A' final.

Finally, in the 200-yard fly sophomore Riley Edmundson continued her stellar weekend by setting a new school record in as many days with a time of 2:01.1. Edmundson has now broken the school records in the 200-yard fly, 400-yard IM, and 200-yard IM this weekend.

Evening Session – In the final session of the weekend, the Bulldogs continued to rack up the points. Caitlin Hefner led the way for Asheville in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:51.69 that placed her fourth.

The 200-yard backstroke was up next and Segurola bettered her morning time down to 1:58.99, which set a new school record.

In perhaps the best event for Asheville on the day, three Bulldogs finished among the top six swimmers. Carlton was third (50.69), Parks was fourth (50.74), and Marcotti placed sixth (51.70).

Edmundson finished up her stellar weekend with a podium finish in the 200-yard fly (2:01.71). Asheville finished up the weekend with another podium nod in the 400-yard relay as the foursome of Marcotti, Jessie Frank, Parks, and Carlton finished second with a time of 3:23.09.

Next Up – The Bulldogs will be back in action at the CSCAA Open Water Championships on December 18 from Miami, Florida.
