GULF SHORES, Ala. – No. 2 TCU beach volleyball (37-3) completed the most historic season in program history.
The Horned Frogs swept No. 10 Stanford, 3-0, this afternoon to secure their spot in the semifinals against reigning national champions, No. 3 USC. TCU came up just short of a spot in the championship match, falling to the Trojans, 3-2.
TCU set many program highs this season including their first NCAA Final Four appearance in program history. The team claimed their first CCSA Conference Title, defended a 36-match home winning streak dating back to 2020 and collected 27 sweeps this season.
QUICK HITS AGAINST NO. 10 STANFORD:
- Sutton MacTavish and Hailey Hamlett scored the first point of the dual in straight sets from the No. 3 position: 21-16, 21-9.
- The duo improved to 9-1 on the season.
- The pairing notched their eighth ranked victory together.
- MacTavish claimed her 31st win of the season and Hamlett her 29th.
- Daniela Alvarez and Tania Moreno tallied the second point in straight sets at No. 1: 21-18, 21-17.
- The pairing improved to 33-1 this season.
- The duo collected their 17th ranked win of the season.
- Alvarez notched her 36th victory of the season and Moreno her 33rd.
- With back-to-back points from the No. 3 and No. 1 positions, the Horned Frogs only needed one final pairing to score to secure the victory.
- Rochelle Scott and Hailey Brockett clinched the match for TCU for the second time this tournament, in three sets from the No. 5 position: 18-21, 21-12, 15-10.
- The duo improved to 28-3 this season.
- The pairing tallied their 16th ranked victory this season.
- Scott claimed her 35th win of the season and Brockett her 31st.
- Anhelina Khmil/Kate Privett and Maria Gonzalez/Ana Vergara's matches were left unfinished as TCU had already clinched the dual.
QUICK HITS AGAINST NO. 3 USC:
- Daniela Alvarez and Tania Moreno scored the first point for the Frogs in straight sets to tie the dual 1-1: 21-19, 21-19.
- The pairing finished their season, 34-1, setting a new program record for best single season record by a pairing.
- The duo collected their 18th ranked win of the season.
- Alvarez notched her 37th victory of the season and Moreno her 34th. Alvarez sets a new program record for best single season record by any individual at 37 wins.
- Kate Privett and Anhelina Khmil tallied the second point for the Frogs in straight sets to give TCU the lead: 21-13, 21-19.
- The duo finished with a 16-6 record this season.
- The duo collected their eighth ranked win of the season.
- With back-to-back points from the No. 1 and No. 2's, the Horned Frogs only needed one final pairing to score to secure the victory.
- It all came down to Rochelle Scott and Hailey Brockett at No. 5 who had just been forced to a third set.
- The duo fought to secure the TCU victory, but just fell short: 23-21, 16-21, 12-15.
