FISHERS, Ind. — The Bellarmine University swimming teams opened their fall seasons this weekend at the Butler Double Dual.

Xavier, Eastern Illinois, Saint Louis, and IUPUI also competed in both men's and women's competition.  Butler also brought a team to compete in the women's pool.
 
In their head-to-head matchups, the Bellarmine men's squad went 1-3 while the BU women went 1-4.

Notable finishes for the women's team included:
Alexandra Pierce – 3^rd place in the 200 breaststroke (2:28.43)
Cassie Lowe – 3^rd place in the 500 freestyle (5:17.82) and 7^th place in the 200 freestyle (1:59.71)
Luiza Bonardi – 6^th place in the 1000 freestyle (11:00.63)
Liz Stevenson – 6^th place in the 50 freestyle (24.95)
 
Notable finishes for the men's team included:
Blake Whiteley, Andrew Nguyen, Jacob Dray, and Will O'Connor – 5^th place in the 200 medley relay (1:36.820
Sam Jones – 7^th in the 200 freestyle (1:46.87) and 500 freestyle (4:51.29)
Will O'Connor – 4^th in the 50 freestyle (21.54)
Jacob Dray – 6^th in the 200 butterfly (1:57.95)
Cason Henderson – 7^th in the 200 butterfly (1:58.32)
Blake Whiteley – 7^th in the 200 backstroke (1:58.80)
 
Both teams return to action on Saturday, Oct. 1 with a double dual at Saint Louis University.
