SPRINGFIELD –
The Missouri State beach volleyball team put together a dominant performance to close its regular season slate here Saturday, sweeping Southwest Baptist, 5-0 on the team's Senior Day.

The top flight for the Bears completed the sweep over the Bearcats in dramatic fashion, as Olivia Muriel and Becca Bach muscled out a three-set win to give the team its fourth 5-0 victory of the year. After dropping their first set, 14-21, the pair rallied, defeating Bailey Lasater and Azalea Clendenning 21-13, 15-6 in the final two sets.

Flights two through five garnered two-set sweeps while playing at the Betty & Bobby Allison Sand Volleyball Courts, Saturday afternoon. Playing in the second position for MSU, the senior duo of Tylar Garrett and Grayson Hall defeated Katie Pogue and Gabrille Belcher, 21-14 in set one, before coming out on top in a back-and-forth second set, ultimately earning the 21-16 victory to give the point to the Bears.

"Tylar and Grayson really found a rhythm in their partnership while we were in Arizona," said head coach Ashley Emery. "They are fun to watch together. I'm proud of the leadership they are giving back to the team."

In flight three for MSU, Manuela Niemeyer and MacKenzie Steele earned their first victory playing in the third position this season. However, the freshman duo's 21-16, 21-13 win over SBU's Janel Pido and Loran Pritchett marks the pair's 13th victory of the season.

Representing the Bears in the fourth flight, Olivia Rattler and Riley Drew found themselves in a first-set deficit to SBU's Madison Satterly and Paityn Kramer. The pair quickly found their groove, though, coming from behind to defeat the Bearcats' fourth flight in two sets, 21-14, 21-10.

Also earning a two-set win, Addison Crider and Brooke Plessner made quick work of SBU's Julia Becker and Carlee Lill. The pair jumped out to an early 7-0 lead and were dominant throughout, winning in two sets (21-8, 21-11).

The victory gives the Bears an overall record of 9-11 to wrap up their regular season slate, the program's third most wins since its inception in 2018.

"The atmosphere of being on campus was just the vibe we needed and it was a great way to send our seniors off on Senior Day," continued Emery. "We will miss them next year but we have still have work to do at the conference tournament."

MSU will have two weeks off ahead of the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) taking place in Huntsville, Ala., April 26-29.
