TCU Remains Perfect With Sweeps of FGCU and TAMUCC

With two sweeps, TCU sets a program record with 20 this season

FORT WORTH – The No. 1 TCU beach volleyball team ran its streak of sweeps to seven with a pair of 5-0 victories over Florida Gulf Coast and Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Friday at the TCU Invitational. TCU remains undefeated on the season, improving to 26-0.
 
TCU shattered two program records with today's victories: seven straight sweeps and single season sweeps (20).
 
The Horned Frogs stretched their home win streak to 38 matches, dating back to March 6, 2020. Additionally, TCU also remains perfect against opponents from Texas, 35-0.
 
Four pairings delivered perfect 2-0 days: Daniela Alvarez/Tania Moreno, Sutton MacTavish/Ana Vergara, Rochelle Scott/Hailey Brockett and Hailey Hamlett/Keagan Polk.
 
QUICK HITS AGAINST FLORIDA GULF COAST:
  • Hailey Hamlett and Keagan Polk scored the first point of the dual in straight sets from the No. 5 position: 21-10, 21-17.
  • The pairing remained unbeaten, claiming their fourth victory together.
  • Hamlett improved her record to 17-2 and Polk remained perfect at 8-0.
  • Rochelle Scott and Hailey Brockett took the next point for TCU with their straight set victory at No. 4: 21-13, 21-15.
  • Riding a 17-match win streak, the longest in program history, the pairing remained unbeaten at 17-0.
  • Individually, the pairing remains perfect this season, Scott at 24-0 and Brockett at 20-0.
  • Sutton MacTavish and Ana Vergara clinched the Horned Frog victory in straight sets from the No. 2 position: 21-17, 21-14.
  • The duo improved their record this season to 9-3.
  • MacTavish claimed her 20th victory of the season and Vergara her 18th.
  • Daniela Alvarez and Tania Moreno tallied the fourth consecutive point in straight sets at No. 1: 21-10, 21-13.
  • The pairing improved their record this season to 21-1.
  • Alvarez notched her 24th victory of the season and Moreno her 21st.
  • Kate Privett and Anhelina Khmil secured the sweep over the Eagles in straight sets from the No. 3 position: 22-20, 21-14.
  • The duo improved their record this season to 12-1
  • Khmil claimed her 23rd victory of the season and Privet her 23rd as well.
  • The Frogs showcased their strength winning all 10 of the sets played.
  • TCU tallied their third sweep against Florida Gulf Coast.
  • The Horned Frogs improved to 3-1 all time over the Eagles.
 
QUICK HITS AGAINST TEXAS A&M – CORPUS CHRISIT:
  • Hailey Hamlett and Keagan Polk took the first point of the match for the Frogs from the No. 4 position: 21-9, 21-16.
  • The pairing remained unbeaten, claiming their fifth victory together.
  • Hamlett notched her 18th victory of the season and Polk remained perfect with her ninth.
  • Rochelle Scott and Hailey Brockett scored the next point for TCU with their straight set victory at No. 5: 21-14, 21-16.
  • The duo remained perfect, improving to 18-0 this season.
  • Scott claimed her 25th straight victory, the longest in program history and Brockett her 21st.
  • Daniela Alvarez and Tania Moreno clinched the Horned Frog victory for the 13th time this season from the No. 1 position: 21-8, 21-12.
  • The pairing improved their record this season to 22-1.
  • Alvarez notched her 25th victory of the season and Moreno her 22nd.
  • Sutton MacTavish and Ana Vergara tallied the fourth point of the dual in straight sets from the No. 3 position: 21-13, 21-19.
  • The duo tallied their 10th victory as a pairing.
  • MacTavish claimed her 21st victory of the season and Vergara her 19th.
  • Kate Privett and Tara Patton secured the 20th sweep of the season in a three setter at No. 2: 21-17, 15-21, 15-10.
  • This is the pairings first appearance and victory as a pairing.
  • Privett improved to 24-2 this season and Patton remained perfect, 4-0.
  • The Horned Frogs remained unbeaten against the Islanders, 14-0.
 
UP NEXT
TCU will open up Day 2 of the TCU Invitational Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m. against UTEP. The Horned Frogs will honor three graduates: Hailey Brockett, Kate Privett and Rochelle Scott around 3 p.m. immediately before their final match of the day against Houston Christian at 3:30 p.m. Admission to all matches is free to the public.
