Lynchburg, Va. – Campbell sits in a close second place after the first day of the TYR '85 Invite. Campbell trails Liberty by 50 points, 783-723, ahead of both St. Francis with 476, and California (Pa.) with 283.
After morning prelims, Campbell began the evening's finals with a strong start, taking both second and fourth in the 50 free relay. The A team finished in 1:32.96, with the fastest split coming from
Meredith Ashburn in 22.67.
Katarina Gagnon grabbed another second-place finish for Campbell in the ensuing event, the 500 free, with a time of 5:02.23.
Laura Lopez earned a podium finish in the 200 IM, touching in 2:04.66.
Maialen Sudupe wasn't far behind, touching fifth at 2:05.50.
Campbell's best event of the night featured a 1-2 finish from
Meredith Ashburn and Elishka Hajek in the 50 free, posting times of 23.28 and 23.49, respectively.
The Camels rounded out the evening taking the third and fourth spots in the 400-medley relay. The A Team clocked in with a time of 3:47.91.
