
Freece Earns 5th Place at WVU Invite in One-Meter Diving

Liberty junior Maddie Freece highlighted Liberty’s diving contingent on day two of the WVU Invite, earning fifth place on one-meter springboard, Friday at The Aquatic Center at Mylan Park in Morgantown, W.Va.

• Jr. Maddie Freece – One-meter diving (6) (5th in A Final – 264.40, qualified in 257.15)
Notable
• Alabama’s Courtney Russo won the A Final with 288.85 points, while Duquesne’s Amy Read finished second with 280.55.
• Freece has increased her score in one-meter diving each meet so far this season.
• Mary Herndon narrowly missed a spot in the B Final, scoring 227.30 for 22nd overall. Meagn Tuohy (30th – 217.60), Elizabeth Mumau (34th – 213.50), Grace Gooding (36th – 212.50) and Sarah Simpson (57th – 160.80) all competed for the Lady Flames.
• The Lady Flames are diving against 13 different schools at that meet this weekend. This weekend’s meet in Morgantown features one-meter tomorrow and a team event on Saturday.
• Liberty split its swimmer and divers this weekend. The Lady Flames’ swimmers completed day one at the TYR ’85 Invite, today at Liberty Natatorium
• Liberty’s divers are competing against divers from Alabama, Army, Colgate, Duquesne, East Carolina, James Madison, Navy, Seton Hall, St. Bonaventure, Toledo, Villanova, West Virginia and Youngstown State.
