MIAMI – The Florida Atlantic University men's and women's swim team competed in the 2022 CSCAA Open Water National Championship on Sunday morning, hosted by FIU. Competing in an intense 5K race. the men's side for the Owls ultimately tallied a fifth place finish out of 15 teams, while the women placed in 11th out of 21 teams.
Men
- In a competitive field of 83 swimmers, Timo Paisley led the way for FAU, finishing in ninth place (56:24.79)
- David Arneskov placed just outside of the top 10, finishing in 12th place with a time of 56:54.79
- Logan Thornsberry finished with a time of 58:13.99
- Following closely behind was Nick Shaffer with a time of 58:29.49
- Cameron Speed crossed with a time of 59:23.65
Women
- Kirsty Hobson was the top finisher for the women's side, finishing in 27th place out of 110 swimmers with a time of 1:00:45
- Kasia Szlek was the next Owl to finish, posting a time of 1:02.52
- Maggie Casey earned a time of 1:03:36
- Hannah Garner finished with a time of 1:05:28
The Owls are set to host the Fun Invite at the FAU Aquatic Center this Tuesday Dec. 20, beginning at 10 a.m. Old Dominion and Rice will be the other competing teams.
