Liberty earned victory in all seven events tonight to wrap up day two of the 2022 TYR ’85 Invite, Saturday at Liberty Natatorium, and the Lady Flames maintain the lead in the team standings.

Following the conclusion of two days of this weekend’s three-day invitational, Liberty leads the team standings with 1,829.5 points. Campbell sits in second at 1,765.5, followed by Saint Francis (Pa.) with 1,048 and California (Pa.) with 639.

Notable

• So far in this meet, Liberty has won seven out of eight individual events and all four relays that have been contested.

• The Lady Flames’ individual-event victories have come from seven different swimmers, with Chloe Harris (100 fly), Grace Isaacs (400 IM), Kate Baker (200 free), Jamyson Robb (100 breaststroke) and Abbie Shaw (100 back) all winning today.

• Liberty posted a 1-2-3 showing in the 200 freestyle, with Baker winning in 1:52.44 and Eva Suggs (1:52.65) and Shelby Kahn (1:53.03) following in second and third, respectively.

• Robb and Jessica Schellenboom went 1-2 in the 100 breaststroke, with Robb edging her teammate by .07 (1:03.72 to 1:03.79).

• The closest finish came in the longest event tonight, as Liberty won the 800 free relay in 7:34.67, just .06 ahead of Campbell’s A team.

Historically Speaking

• Liberty’s 200 medley relay of Abbie Shaw, Heather Gardner, Chloe Harris and Kaycee Cannings is now ranked 10th on the program’s all-time top 10 performers list with their 1:41.23.

• Rachel Strickland’s 26.39 leadoff leg in the 200 medley relay puts her sixth on Liberty’s all-time top 10 in the 50 backstroke.

• In the 100 fly, Chloe Harris entered the Lady Flames’ top 10 and now sits in eighth place.

Day three of the TYR ’85 Invite begins tomorrow at 10 a.m. with preliminary heats of the 200 backstroke, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, while also featuring the 1650 freestyle and 400 free relay.
