
Bulldogs finish ninth at the CSCAA Open Water Championships

INDIVIDUAL RESULTS
MIAMI, Fla. – The UNC Asheville swimming & diving team placed ninth at the CSCAA Open Water Championships on Sunday.
Overall, 21 teams competed on Sunday. Asheville finished ahead of the likes of Cincinnati, Florida Atlantic, Florida State, Grand Canyon, and Toledo.
Individually, five Bulldogs competed on the day and they were Caitlin Hefner, Nora Segurola Larrinaga, Grace Adams, Anna Kulniszewski, Gaby Shenot. Hefner led the way for Asheville placing 23rd with a time of 1:00:17.72
"The training that we did in preparation for the race may have been some of the hardest we have done," Hefner said afterward. "But the memories are priceless."
Segurola also finished in the upper half of the 110-swimmer field finishing the 5K race with a time of 1:02:44.86, which placed her 49th.
"I'm so happy to have ended my last 5k on such a high note," said Segurola. "I am so proud of the team for having worked incredibly hard for this, not everyone can say they finished such a long strenuous race!"
Adams (57th – 1:03:03.80), Kulniszewski (69th – 1:04:23.74), and Shenot (83rd – 1:05:00.14) rounded out the finishers for Asheville on Sunday.
Asheville will be back in action on Tuesday when it takes on Florida Gulf Coast for a Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) matchup. Tuesday's meet is scheduled to get underway at 2 p.m.
