Divers Close Out West Virginia Invitational

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The James Madison divers closed out the West Virginia Invitational on Saturday after three days of competing at The Aquatic Center at Mylan Park, finishing in third out of 13 teams present.
 
The 3-meter board took place on Thursday afternoon, with Alexa Holloway, Lindsey Hammar and Maddie O'Mera moving on to the finals. Holloway took second place with an NCAA Zone qualifying score of 288.20 that followed her qualifying score in the prelims of 281.30. Hammar placed sixth with a score of 271.25, while O'Mera took home ninth with a 209.40 score.
 
On Friday, the 1-meter board was the highlight, as Hammar advanced to the finals once again and was joined by Maddie Yager. Hammar finished in third place, moving to the finals with an NCAA Zone qualifying score of 280.70 and then took home the bronze with another qualifying score (272.25). Yager placed tenth with a finals score of 273.40, another NCAA Zone qualifying score.
 
To close out the weekend, the Dukes placed fourth (224.80) and tenth (208.20) in the team event.
 
Up Next
The Dukes will host Richmond on Saturday, Dec. 3 for a dual meet at Savage Natatorium. The meet will be streamed on ESPN+ with the diving portion beginning at 10 a.m. and swimming following at 12:30 p.m.
