Liberty & FGCU take home CCSA Honors

Charlotte, N.C. (TheCCSA.com) – Liberty’s Abbie Shaw earned the CCSA Swimmer of the Week honors. While Florida Gulf Coast’s Kylie Palian earned the CCSA Diver of the Week Honors, announced Tuesday by the league office. This is the first honor for Shaw and Pailan this season.

 100 backstroke/55.05/1st place
100 backstroke/2:02.02/1st place
200 medley relay/led off in 26.21/Liberty 1st place in 1:44.41
400 freestyle relay/seam third leg in 53.34/Liberty 1st place in 3:31.50

Abbie Shaw continued her backstroke dominance, helping Liberty to a 156-144 win at ECU by sweeping the 100 backstroke (55.05) and 200 backstroke (2:02.02) and swimming on two winning relays. Shaw won the 100 backstroke by 1:08 seconds and won the 200 backstroke by 2:06 seconds over her nearest competitor. She led off Liberty’s winning 200 medley relay in 26.21, giving her team a .61 lead in a race that the Lady Flames won by .73 seconds (1:44.41 to 1:45.14). She swam the third leg on Liberty’s winning 400 free relay to end the meet.  Shaw has earned victory in both the 100 and 200 backstroke at the same meet three times this season.

  • 3m – 276.00 – 1st

 

Competing on both 1m and 3m this past weekend, Kylie posted extremely competitive scores against her fellow Eagles.  Topping the 3m in a season best 276.00 while also posting a season best 242.00 placing 2nd on the 1m.
