Liberty Grabs Top Spot After Day One of the 2019 CCSA Championships

Athens, Ga. (TheCCSA.com) – The Liberty Women's Swimming and Diving team is in first-place with 219 points after the first day of the 2019 CCSA Swimming and Diving Championship at the Liberty Natatorium on Liberty University's campus.

Incarnate Word is in second with 171 points, Georgia Southern sits third with 162 points and Howard is in fourth with 122 points. Campbell finished fifth at 120 points, UNC Asheville sits sixth with 116 points followed by Gardner-Webb at seventh who finished the day 110 points. Florida Gulf Coast finished eighth with 105 points, while North Florida finished the day in ninth-place with 102 points.

Florida Gulf Coast took the meet's first event as Dorris Eichhorn, Petra Halmai, Gracie Redding and Rebecca Moynihan finished with a time of 1:38.71 in the 200-yard medley relay. Liberty finished second in 1:39.84, followed by Campbell with a finish of 1:42.17.

Liberty's 800-yard freestyle relay team claimed first-place for the second year in a row. Hannah Baker, Emily Zimcosky, Emily Manly and Mikayla Herich topped the podium with a time of 7:13.46. Florida Gulf Coast grabbed second-place and UNC Asheville finished third, respectivley.

Florida Gulf Coast's Megan Wakefield claimed first place in the 1-meter dive with a total dive score of 284.00. Liberty's Olivia Robinson finished second with a score of 272.30, while teammate Lauren Chennault finished third at 256.75 points.

All of the day's results can be found here. The CCSA Championship will continue Thursday, February 21 at 10:00 a.m. with the 500-yard freestyle preliminaries. The event finals for day two will start at 6:00 p.m.
