CCSA Announces Women's Swimmer and Diver of the Week - Oct. 17

Charlotte, N.C. (TheCCSA.com) – Campbell freshman Annie Sanchez (Midlothian, Va.) has been named the CCSA Women's Swimmer of the Week for meets contested Oct. 8-14. In addition, Howard sophomore Christian Nickolas (Brentwood, Calif.) is the Women's Diver of the Week, the CCSA announced Wednesday.

Sanchez helped the Camels win the 200 free relay over UNC Asheville by swimming her leg in 23.55, the fastest among all swimmers. She also earned her third individual win in the 200 free in as many races, posting a time of 1:53.89. Her efforts helped CU to the team and conference win over the Bulldogs. In Campbell's relay meet at Vanderbilt, Sanchez was a part of two teams that posted first-place finishes, one in the 500 free relay and 400 free relay. She also swam the fastest 100 yards of all swimmers in the 400 free, turning in a time of 51.45 seconds.

Nickolas' contributions on the 1-meter and 3-meter boards last weekend helped lift the Bison to a 3/4 meet win in a two day turnaround. She placed first in the 1-meter competition both days, topping American and Manhattan on Friday with a 226.75 finish, then VMI and Barton on Saturday where she scored 240.70. Nickolas also finished second in the 3-meter with a score of 216.15 against American and Manhattan.

Also nominated for Swimmer of the Week: KaSandra Kaplan (Howard) and Morgan Rulevich (UNC Asheville).
