CCSA Announces Women's Swimmer and Diver of the Week - Jan. 23

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (TheCCSA.com) – Liberty senior Prudence Rooker (Forest Grove, Ore.) has been named the CCSA Women's Swimmer of the Week for the second time in as many weeks. Florida Gulf Coast freshman Megan Wakefield (Guelph, Ontario) also captures her second Women's Diver of the Week honor for meets contested Jan. 15-21, the CCSA announced Tuesday.

Rooker posted three individual victories last Saturday at Marshall and swam on Liberty's winning 200-medley relay, as the Lady Flames earned a 177-123 victory over the Thundering Herd. All three of Rooker's individual swims were the fastest by a Lady Flame in the respective event this season. She won the 100-breaststroke in 1:03.99, then finished the 200-breaststroke in 2:18.91. Rooker completed her meet with a winning time of 2:06.06 in the 200 IM. She also swam a 29.03 in the second leg of Liberty's winning 200-medley relay, which clocked a 1:44.79.

Wakefield set a school-record in the platform dive last week with a 242.55, besting the previous mark set by Cayla Collins (196.40) in 2015. The score qualified her for the NCAA Zone Diving Championships on both the 3-meter and platform. She also picked up a victory in the 3-meter dive with a score of 282.45. Wakefield's performance came against Miami (Fla.) as the Eagles picked up their seventh-straight victory over the Hurricanes, 180-120.

 

Also nominated for Swimmer of the Week: Christina Kaas Elmgreen (Florida Gulf Coast), London Schumacher (Gardner-Webb), Kaylyn Thomas (Georgia Southern) and Skylar Rogan (UNC Asheville).

Also nominated for Diver of the Week: Christian Nickolas (Howard), Katie Knight (Georgia Southern) and Amy Schools (Liberty).
