KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Day one of the 2023 CCSA Swimming & Diving Championships started with records falling as Queens broke two meet records on its way to 195 total points after five events. The Royals claimed four event titles starting the night with a new CCSA Championship record in the 200-Yard Medley Relay. Alexander Bauch, Balazs Berecz, Conner Wang and Matej Dusa finished in a time of 1:25.39 to earn gold. Another record fell to close out the night as Dusa posted a 19.20 in the 50-Yard Freestyle to break the six-year meet record of 19.86. Luke Erwee (500-Yard Freestyle) and Alex Kunert (200-Yard IM) secured the other two gold medals for the Royals.

Florida Atlantic sits in second place with a total of 190.5 points behind a one-two finish in the 3-Meter Dive. Brandon Shepherd claimed gold with 300.55 points and Etham Crim tallied 229.75 points in the event. Gardner-Webb sits in third (116), followed by Old Dominion (100) and Bellarmine (64.5). Day two of the 2023 Championship resumes at 10 AM ET on Thursday at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center in Knoxville.

Event Note: Dusa obliterated the previous meet record in a blistering 19.20 time to make the NCAA 'B' cut and was just .06 from tying his conference record set earlier this season

The 2023 edition marks the 16th championship for the CCSA in Men's Swimming and Diving and the fourth time the event has been hosted by the University of Tennessee.


The Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) is a progressive NCAA Division I conference dedicated to the enhancement of opportunities for students. The conference was founded in 2008 to provide a championship opportunity for Swimming and Diving student-athletes and extended that opportunity with the addition of Beach Volleyball in the summer of 2015. The league's footprint extends into several states: Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas and Virginia. The CCSA is dedicated to the student-athletes who compete in its championships and their success in the classroom, in the field of competition, and life after graduation.
