Incarnate Word Remains In First-Place After Day Two of the 2019 CCSA Championship

Lynchburg, Va. (TheCCSA.com) – The Incarnate Word men's swimming and diving team is in first-place with 324 points after day two of the 2019 CCSA Swimming and Diving Championship at the Liberty Natatorium.

Florida Atlantic sits second with 242 points, Gardner-Webb took third with 212.5 points, followed by Old Dominion at 198 points. NJIT is in fifth-place with 108 points, Mount Saint Mary's is sixth with 77 points and Howard finished in seventh-place with 74.5 points.

Gardner Webb's 200-yard freestyle relay team took the first swimming event of the day, an event they also won last year, with a time of 1:21.06. The Runnin' Bulldogs team was comprised of Dowdy SarvisTim BennettBrady Fields and Zach Dingfield. In the 500-yard freestyle, Josh Fountain of Florida Atlantic claimed the crown in 4:26.93. Incarnate Word's Sergio Duran Mata followed him at 4:29.25. Owl Will Smith rounded out the top three with his time of 4:30.92.

In the 200-yard individual medley, Incarnate Word's Hector Ruvalcaba Cruz finished atop the podium for the second straight year with a 1:48.17 finish. He was followed by teammate Beau Fusilier, where he secured a time of 1:49.11. Runnin' Bulldog Jordan Mintz placed third in 1:49.59. In the fast paced 50-yard freestyle, Carter Wallace of Incarnate Word claimed first-place with his time of 20.43. He was followed by Gardner-Webb's Zach Dingfield, with a finish of 20.50, then Florida Atlantic's Colin Kozak with his time of 20.58.

All of the day's results can be viewed here. The CCSA Championship will continue Friday, February 22 at 10:00 a.m., with the 100-yard butterfly preliminaries. The event finals for day three will begin at 6:00 p.m.
