CCSA Announces Men's Swimmer and Diver of the Week - Jan. 15

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (TheCCSA.com) – Incarnate Word junior Hector Ruvalcaba Cruz (Tijuana, Mexico) has been named the CCSA Men's Swimmer of the Week for meets contested Jan. 7-13. In addition, freshman teammate Timothy Newton (Las Vegas, Nev.) has been named the Men's Diver of the Week, the CCSA announced Tuesday.

Cruz claimed first-place in the 500 free against Florida State with a time of 4:34.66, and then won the 200 IM in a time of 1:51.11. In another meet against LSU and Delta State, Cruz went 3-for-3 with wins in the 200 Fly (1:48.02), 500 Free (4:33.86) and 200 IM (1:51.36).

Newton was fifth in the 1-meter dive competition with 243.15 points and fourth on the 3-meter with a score of 271.20 at Florida State. Later in the week at LSU, Newton was sixth in both diving competitions with a 240.55 point total at the 1-meter height and 245.95 on the 3-meter.
