CCSA Announces Men's Swimmer and Diver of the Week - Jan. 8

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (TheCCSA.com) – Florida Atlantic junior Connor Smoak (Melbourne, Fla.) has been named the CCSA Men's Swimmer of the Week for meets contested Dec. 31-Jan. 6. Sophomore teammate Logan Downey (Gardners, Pa.) has been named the Men's Diver of the Week for the second straight week, the CCSA announced Tuesday.

Smoak captured two individual wins, as well as two relay victories in last Saturday's meet against NJIT and NYU. His victory in the 50 free (21.64) was his first in that event this season, while his 100 free (47.39) win was his second of the season. Smoak's legs as the anchor in the 200 medley (21.54) and 400 free relays (46.66) helped secure the top position in both events.

Downey secured his fourth sweep of the season in the 1- and 3-meter diving events. On the 3-meter board, Downey posted a score of 252.45, which helped him secure the first-place position by nearly 65 points. Downey's score of 207.75 on the 1-meter event took also gave him the victory by almost 16 points.
