CCSA Announces Men's Swimmer and Diver of the Week - Jan. 30

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (TheCCSA.com) – NJIT senior Scott Quirie (Ottawa, Canada) has been named the CCSA Men's Swimmer of the Week for meets contested Jan. 22-28, the CCSA announced Tuesday. Also, Florida Atlantic freshman Logan Downey (Plantation, Fla.) earns his third Men's Diver of the Week honor of the season.

Quirie paced NJIT with four first place finishes last week, the most of any swimmer. He took the crown in the 100 back with a time of 53.10, almost two seconds before the second-place swimmer. In the 200 back he captured a time of 157.12. Later in the 200 IM, Quirie finished in 157.60 eight seconds faster than the second-place finisher.

Downey placed third in the 3-meter dive last week against Florida State with 256.80 points. He followed that up with a score of 270.07 in the 1-meter dive.

 

Also nominated for Swimmer of the Week: Connor Hodges (Florida Atlantic) and Jordan Mintz (Gardner-Webb).

Also nominated for Diver of the Week: Avery Bechtel (NJIT).
