CCSA Announces Men's Swimmer and Diver of the Week - Jan. 23

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (TheCCSA.com) – NJIT senior Scott Quirie (Ottawa, Canada) has been named the CCSA Men's Swimmer of the Week for meets contested Jan. 15-21, the CCSA announced Tuesday. Also, junior teammate Avery Bechtel (Gardners, Pa.) earns his fourth Men's Diver of the week honor of the season.

In a dual meet with Howard and Marymount last week, Quirie placed first in the 200-medley relay with a time of 1:36.98. He then went on to claim two more first place finishes for the Highlanders in the 200 IM (1:58.85) and the 100 Back (53.43).

Bechtel continued his solid year by surpassing his own records and setting multiple school records in two diving events last week. In the 1-meter dive, he scored a 218.30. Bechtel followed that up with a tally of 194.00 in the 3-meter dive.

 

Also nominated for Swimmer of the Week: William Smith (Howard) and Nick Wukovits (Old Dominion).
