LEXINGTON, Ky. - TCU head coach Hector Gutierrez was selected as the 2023 AVCA Collegiate Beach Volleyball National Coach of the Year, the organization announced on Monday. The leader of the Horned Frogs' beach program and two-time CCSA Coach of the Year (2022-23) guided his program to a 37-3 overall record and its first No. 1 national ranking on March 7. TCU started the season 29-0 and held the top spot in the nation for six consecutive weeks.

Gutierrez helped his top pair of Daniela Alvarez & Tania Moreno earn their second straight CCSA Pair of the Year accolade and were named Pair of the Tournament in the Horned Frogs' first championship title run while Anhelina Khmil picked up Freshman of the Year honors and Rochelle Scott and Hailey Brockett earned All-Conference First Team selections this season.

The Horned Frogs earned the top slot for the CCSA Beach Volleyball Championship and earned a 3-0 victory in the championship match over Grand Canyon to claim the program's first CCSA Title and the No. 2 spot in the NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship bracket. TCU earned two 3-0 sweeps over Stetson and Stanford in the National Championship before bowing out of the Final Four round to eventual champion, USC (3-2). Gutierrez joins the Lopes' Kristen Rohr as National Coach of the Year recipients after Rohr earned the honor in 2022.
