Long & Polo Leads FSU on Upset Bid to Earn @CCSA_Beach Pair of the Week Honors

 


ATLANTA – Clinching the match point in Florida State's upset bid over No. 2 UCLA landed Anna Long and Jordan Polo CCSA Beach Volleyball Pair of the Week accolades, the league office announced on Wednesday. Long and Polo topped their Bruins counterparts, 21-18, 16-21, 15-12, leading the Seminoles to victory. The pair also tallied ranked wins over No. 7 Loyola Marymount and No. 8 Hawai'i in the East-West Invitational.

Anna Long, Florida State | Sophomore | Lakeside Park, Ky.
Jordan Polo, Florida State | Graduate | Danville, Calif.
- First Career CCSA Pair of the Week for Long & Polo pairing; 18th weekly award for the FSU program
- Earned a 3-1 record as a pair at the East-West Invitational last weekend; topped No. 2 Pair from Hawai'i, No. 3 Pair from UCLA and No. 3 Pair from Loyola Marymount
- Clinched the match point in three sets in the Seminoles upset victory over second-ranked UCLA (21-18, 16-21, 15-12)
- Battled back for the win after dropping first set against Hawai'i (17-21, 21-16, 17-5); Also defeated LMU pair in straight sets (21-11, 21-14)
- Helped the Seminoles to a 24-3 record as the team prepares to host the Unconquered Invitational versus Southern Miss., No. 5 LSU, No. 7 LMU & No. 15 Florida Atlantic

The Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) is a progressive NCAA Division I conference dedicated to the enhancement of opportunities for students. The conference was founded in 2008 to provide a championship opportunity for Swimming and Diving student-athletes and extended that opportunity with the addition of Beach Volleyball in the summer of 2015. The league's footprint extends into several states: Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia. The CCSA is dedicated to the student-athletes who compete in its championships and their success in the classroom, in the field of competition, and life after graduation.
