Back in the Sand: Five CCSA Beach Volleyball Programs to Compete in Inaugural Fall Collegiate Beach Championships

AVCA Release

ATLANTA - Five CCSA programs are prepared to play in the inaugural AVCA Fall Collegiate Beach Championship in Huntsville, Ala., announced Wednesday by the organization. The event, which will be held Nov. 4–6, features six-time CCSA Champion Florida State, 2022 newcomer Grand Canyon, LSU, South Carolina and TCU competing for the women's pairs national championship.

The women's competition showcases top players from Division I and Division II schools across the United States, including pairs from each of the 16 teams that made the 2022 National Collegiate Beach Volleyball Championship. More specific details on the AVCA Fall Collegiate Beach Championships, including the list of schools for the participating pairs, is available on the event info page.

Legislation passed this May by the NCAA, which allows multiple-day events for college women's beach volleyball players during the fall season, paved the way for the championships. This first-of-its-kind event will take place at John Hunt Park, which is home to a multimillion, state-of-the-art beach volleyball complex with 15 lighted courts in the heart of Huntsville.

The city was awarded the championships for the next three years, from 2022 through 2024, as part of a collaboration between the AVCA and a group of local partners: the City of Huntsville, the Huntsville Sports Commission, Rally Volleyball, Beach Volleyball Consulting, and the Huntsville/Madison County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) is a progressive NCAA Division I conference dedicated to the enhancement of opportunities for students. The conference was founded in 2008 to provide a championship opportunity for Swimming and Diving student-athletes and extended that opportunity with the addition of Beach Volleyball in the summer of 2015. The league's footprint extends into several states: Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia. The CCSA is dedicated to the student-athletes who compete in its championships and their success in the classroom, in the field of competition, and life after graduation.
