'Noles, Tigers & Panthers Advance to #CCSABeachVB Semifinals

EMERSON, Ga. - The final day of the 2019 CCSA Beach Volleyball Championship is set, as top seed Florida State, #2 LSU, #3 FIU and #5 Georgia State all won their quarterfinal duals to advance to the semifinals on Sunday. 

The morning started off with elimination round action. TCU swept UAB, 5-0 to advance, while FAU defeated UNCW 4-1. College of Charleston took down Tulane, 4-1, to advance to the quarterfinal. Fourth seed South Carolina survived and advanced by beating Southern Miss, 4-1. 

In the afternoon session, all the squads who received a bye to the quarterfinals advanced to the semifinals. Top seed and defending champ, Florida State kept their unblemsihed record in the tournament just that, as they swept TCU to earn their spot in the semifinals. LSU received a scare from College of Charleston, but prevailed by winning on court eight to take the dual, 3-2. Third seeded FIU, breezed by South Carolina 4-1 to clinch their berth in the semifinals. Georgia State was the last squad to earn their spot in the semis, as they fended off FAU 3-2. Georgia Johnson made Georgia State history, as she won her 91st career match to move into first in program history.

The semifinals will begin on Sunday morning at 10 AM ET and will be streamed on Facebook Live.
