CCSA Beach Volleyball Weekend Recap: March 24-26

LakePoint, Ga. – Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Beach Volleyball teams were in action this past weekend as teams continue to rack up quality wins at tournaments across the Southeast. South Carolina hosted the Gamecock Grand Slam with some of the top teams in the nation gathering Columbia, S.C., while College of Charleston welcomed teams for the CofC Beach Classic. 

No. 9-ranked South Carolina welcomed some of the top teams in the country as No. 1 Southern California, No. 4 Florida State, No. 9 Georgia State and No. 9 Stetson all took part in the event. Florida State went 3-1 on the weekend, defeating Georgia State, South Carolina and Stetson. No. 1 Southern California was the only team to go undefeated. Georgia State picked up one win against the host Gamecocks, who finished the weekend 0-4. To read more on Florida State's victories click here

Florida International took part in the Eckerd Challenge and was dominant all weekend long. The Panthers won all four of their matches by a 5-0 score line. They defeated Huntingdon, Morehead State on Saturday, then Jacksonville State and the hosts Eckerd on Sunday to close out the weekend undefeated. Read more on FIU's undefeated week here.

College of Charleston, one of the new CCSA league members this season, went 4-0 at home in the CofC Beach Classic. The Cougars defeated Lincoln Memorial twice, before taking down fellow CCSA members Tulane and UNCW. Three of Charleston's victories were 4-1, while the match against Tulane was won 3-2. Read more on the victories at the CofC Beach Classic here. In the same tournament, Tulane went 3-1 with the only loss coming to College of Charleston. LSU brought home a perfect 4-0 mark from the Horned Frog Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas this past weekend. The Tigers earned wins against Arizona State, TCU and Arizona all by the score of 3-2. They then came back and defeated Arizona State a second time, this one by the margin of 4-1. The Tigers have now gone two consecutive weekends without defeat.
