DAY TWO RESULTS

CHARLOTTE, N.C. –  The UNC Asheville swimming & diving team continued to rewrite the record books on day two of the Fall Frenzy Invitational on Saturday.

"Being challenged is a great test of a team's character and resilience," said UNC Asheville Head Coach Elizabeth Lykins. "The year's midseason is very competitive, and we are embracing the challenges in every session. I'm exceptionally proud of the way we are handling adversity and rebounding with each race."

"I would never have been able to achieve these results without this team," freshman Anna Marcotti said afterward. "Seeing teammates swim so fast truly motivates the whole group. We are doing a great job and I can't wait to see the results of the last day!"

Morning Session – Asheville had an impressive start to the day in the morning session. Overall, the Bulldogs broke two school records, totaled 27 season-best times, and had 23 swimmers qualify for final races later in the day.

The first event of the day, the 400-yard individual medley, saw four Bulldogs log season-best times. Riley Edmundson continued her impressive weekend breaking the school record with a time of 4:23.79. Julie Lahiff (4:32.37), Tess Peny (4:36.83), and Gaby Shenot (4:38.46) also qualified for Saturday's finals in the 400-yard IM.

In a stellar showing of depth, Asheville had five swimmers qualify for the 'A' final in the 100-yard fly. Chloe McDonald (3rd – 55.82) and Addison Wright (4th – 55-85) both logged top five times in Saturday's prelims.

The second school record that was broken in the A.M. session was in the 200-yard freestyle. Freshman Anna Marcotti finished fourth in the field (1:50.44) and established a new school record in the event.

All six swimmers in the 100-yard breaststroke logged their top times in the 2022-23 season so far. Mikaela Fullerton (5th – 1:03.53) and Abby Parks (6th – 1:03.68) led the way for the Bulldogs and qualified for the 'A' Finals.

Finally, the 100-yard backstroke prelims also occurred on Saturday. Nora Segurola Larrinaga narrowly missed posting the top time overall clocking in at 54.77 as a runner-up to Mollie Morfelt's time of 54.34. Grace Adams (8th – 56.59), Addison Wright (13th – 57.48), and Christa Jones (17th – 59.17) also broke a minute for the Bulldogs.

Evening Session – Opening the evening session, the Bulldogs posted two of the top four times in the 200-yard medley relay. The foursome of Segurola, Fullerton, Addison Wright, and Delaney Carlton finished second (1:41.69) while Adams, Parks, McDonald, and Marcotti placed fourth (1:44.42).

In the other individual event finals, Asheville continued its success. Lahiff logged a new lifetime best time in the 400-yard IM (4:28.59). Wright finished as the runner-up in the 100-yard fly with a time of 55.86 and Edmundson logged her fastest time ever in that event (56.03).
