RESULTS

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's and women's swimming teams completed the first day of the Kellianne Nagy Fall Frenzy being held at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center this evening after turning in a number of strong performances.
 
Following tonight's events, Queens leads with a combined score of 1226.5 The Royals also lead on both the men's and women's sides with scores of 724 and 502.5, respectively.
 
For the women, Queens' 200 freestyle relay team made up of Danielle Melilli, Monica Gumina, Ryley Heck, and Tova Andersson opened the night setting a new meet record in the event taking first place with a time of 1:30.82.
 
Queens' Melilli also secured a first-place finish in tonight's 50 free race, clocking 22.48 seconds to beat her own record set at last season's Fall Frenzy. Gumina followed in second place with a time of 22.66 seconds.
 
Queens' women then closed the night by taking first place in the 400-medley relay with a time of 3:40.94. The team comprised of Caroline Lawrence, Annika Huber, Gumina, and Melilli.
 
Queens' men also swept tonight's relay races as Matej Dusa, Alex Kunert, Daniel Meszaros, and Finn Howard opened with a win in the 200-freestyle relay clocking a time of 1:18.75. The Royals' B squad followed in second place as well. In the 400-medley relay, Alexander Bauch, Jan Delkeskamp, Kunert, and Dusa, recorded a new meet record time of 3:09.68 to close the night with an exclamation mark for the Royals.
 
The Royals men also secured a win in the 500-freestyle race as Luke Erwee touched the wall with a time of 4:25.47. Additionally, Delkeskamp took first in the 200 IM with a time of 1:47.24 as Kunert, Balazs Berecz, Yannick Plasil, and Andreas Marz followed in places 2-5, respectively.
 
Dusa was also able to grab an individual win on the night, taking first in the 50 free and breaking his own meet record from a season ago with a time of 19.17 seconds.

"After a five-week layoff for the men, it was a great start to the meet with some exciting meet records," Queens Associate Athletic Director for Strategic Planning and Leadership Development/ Director of Swimming Operations Jeff Dugdale commented. "On the women's side, we continue to improve and broke some records as well. We are built to get better as the meet goes so I'm excited for our athletes."
