Swimming totals nine top-five finishes at Evansville Invitational

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — The Bellarmine men's and women's swim teams were in action for the first time in 2023 on Saturday, as the Knights competed in a quad-meet hosted by Evansville.

Bellarmine's men's and women's teams both faced off against the Purple Aces, Missouri State, and The University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) with the following results:

Between the men's and women's squads, Bellarmine totaled nine individual top-five finishes.
 
Notable finishes for the women's team included:
Lauren Diercks – 4th place in the 200 backstroke (2:11.89)
Caroline McMillin – 5th place in the 200 backstroke (2:12.26)
Anna Holt – 5th place in the 1650 freestyle (18:52.08)
Liz Stevenson – 5th place in the 50 freestyle (25.00)
 
Notable finishes for the men's team included:
Jacob Dray – 2nd in the 100 butterfly (50.37)
Blake Whiteley – 3rd in the 100 backstroke (51.91)
Sam Jones – 5th place in the 1650 freestyle (16:32.68)
Cason Henderson – 5th in the 200 butterfly (1:54.72)
Will O'Connor – 5th in the 50 freestyle (21.87)
 
Bellarmine will next host Xavier on Saturday, Jan. 21 at the Mary T. Meagher Aquatic Center.  Saturday also marks Senior Day for the Knights, with Senior Day ceremonies beginning at 11:50 a.m.  – the meet is scheduled to begin at 12:10 p.m.
